WHY SLEEP IS IMPORTANT FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH

Sleep issues are very common for many of us who deal with mental illness on a daily basis. You might sleep way too much, or not be able to sleep at all.

LACK OF SLEEP AMPS UP FEELING OF DEPRESSION:

It is flat out harder to be happier when we are exhausted. Our bodies are so focused on figuring out a way to function without sleep that they won’t allow us to spend energy on being happy.

LACK OF SLEEP INCREASE STRESS :

The day after a poor night’s sleep will be a lot tenser in a sense which keeps us on edge. Essentially, we’re less confident, more self-critical, and tenser when we’re tired, and as a result at a higher risk of depression and anxiety.

LACK OF SLEEP INCREASES FEELING OF PAIN:

In addition to increasing the likelihood of a stress response, going without sleep can also cause you to feel pain more strongly.

YOU'RE AT RISK OF MEMORY LOSS:

Another significant negative to poor sleep is memory loss. Whether this is linked to depression directly is still debated when you’re unable to pull upon memories in crucial moments throughout the day, this relates to feelings of self resentment.
